Well..If you only want to go up two shades lighter, you can purchase your standard hair colour in a box. If you want to go really blonde, you will have to bleach or 'lighten' it which will require going to the hair salon. Bleaching is harsh on the hair and if you go more than two shades up as an all over colour, grow-out will be very noticeable. Opt instead to having highlights - less damage and the grow out won't be as noticeable. Also be aware, if you bleach your hair, it is best if it is 'virgin' hair, meaning that it hasn't been previously chemically treated with other hair colour or perms. If you have had it chemically treated but it was done in a salon, there is a less-likely chance that your hair may turn a funny green tinge. The chemicals used in store bought box hair dyes and perm kits are different concentrations and mixes than those used in the salons.
