How do I make my hair blonder without it turning yellow?

I was told at the hair dresser that my hair would turn yellow if they made it the blonde that I wanted. However, it has been that blonde before. My question is, how can I make it blonde without it turning yellow?

Here is a picture how I want it to look.

its not a question of making it blonder...your hair is already very blonde. however, your stylist is using either an ash (blue/grey) toner, or a platinum (violet) toner, which is giving it that "dark" cast, and making it look dull.

if your hairstylist is telling you your hair will turn yellow, and shes making it that "dark", dull color, she must be confused with what exactly it is that you want. have you shown her this picture?? to her, that first picture might look yellow! it does have alot of yellow or gold tones compared to what you have now. i agree that your hair looks better in the first picture than the second.

maybe you should find a new hairstylist?? how did you get it like that first picture to begin with? you look like your naturally a dark blonde (a level 6 or 7 to be exact based on your skin tone and your eyebrows), so getting you to that pretty golden blonde shouldn't be that difficult for someone who knows what their doing.

first you would need to soap cap your exsisting color (a mixture of bleach, developer, and shampoo). this will help remove some of that dull pigment, and make it brighter. then you would have to add the correct tone (i would go with a neutral-gold). depending on how light your natural haircolor actually is will determine if you need to bleach your roots, or if you can get it that color with regular haircolor.

if your hairdresser is telling you your hair will turn yellow, tell her she's dumb and she doesn't know what shes talking about.

You need to go to Sallys and buy Shimmering lights Shampoo... its a violet color.. so It tones out the Yellow in your hair.. and it SAves you a bunch of money... I am a hair stylist .. so yeah.. that is the best solution. Report It

If you put lemon juice in your hair before going out in the sun... It gives you highlights that look natural.. But, if you are looking for quick results, I wouldn't use this method.

My guess would be, you need to ask for ash based blonde color.

You should take the first picture to the salon and ask the hairdresser if they can color it that way. Also, the second pic looks like you may have a little bit of an ash base, make sure to tell the hairdresser you don't want ashy, brassy, or yellow color. I'm blonde as well and it is a chore to find someone who knows what they are doing. Good Luck.

Seattle has a gourmet hair place called Gene Jaurez

yet there is also the training school where Gene Jaurez hair people learn their craft

you could try the training school of the poshest hair place at your town

you could also try writing your question on craigslist.org to meet a super qualified person on a cheap or feeless basis

Cute haircut. Looks like you can get the shade of blonde in the first picture just by highlighting what you already have. Loreal makes a highlighting kit in a blue and white box, and the color you want is Champagne...otherwise, try a different salon and ask them for a highlight instead of a color. They can foil it, which will distribute it through your hair in larger pieces. It's more likely that someone with dark hair would turn yellow than someone already having blonde and going lighter. Good luck!

DO NOT USE AN ASH BLONDE!!!

that color has green undertones any color with the word ash in it has that. if you are doing it yourself which as a hairdresser i DO NOT recommend, make sure you use a toner which will prevent the color from looking "brassy"

anyway ask your current hairdresser or a new one about toners and going blonde.

I think that ur hair looks really good how u have it now and u should keep it that way. But if u do want to change it, I don't think that ur hair will turn yellow if u change it to a different blonde. Ur hair dresser probably only told u that because he/she likes how it looks now. lol. Well I hope u figure it out!!! Good Luck!!!

Your hairdresser is telling you that SHE or HE can not do it. So go to someone else. Do you have color on your hair now? Ask someone who you like their blond hair color who does there hair. Book a consultation and see what they have to say. Best of luck.
