Gradually darkening my hair color?

I currently have pretty light blond hair that I colored at home. My natural color is light to medium brown. I'm thinking of darkening my shade over the course of six months or so by choosing a slightly darker shade each time I color it (every six weeks or so) over the coming months. Is this a good idea? Problems that might come up?

Why not just Dye it the origanal color right away?

i think that is the best way to go without be too dramatic. one problem might be that your roots will show but they havea root touch-up product that you can use in-between trips to the salon.

That is the best way to go from blonde to however dark you want it, not just because it's less dramatic for you and the people around you but also it lowers your chances of having problems with the actual hair color.

Blonde hair has the least amount of pigment out of all hair colors, so when dying it brown the porosity of the blonde hair sucks in all the color and sometimes can come out WAY TOO DARK or even green...so! Stick to your idea. It's a good one.

oh and dont use boxed stuff as you go. go to a beauty supply and buy the items you need. its easier and cheaper in the long run.
